3 Top WordPress Themes for 2017 - Rob Cherry Web Design

What is WordPress?

* Update Nov 2018 – I now use Elementor framework for most of my own web design

When you first start to think about venturing into an online business and how your new website is going to look, it’s critical to find the right type of content management system. You want a platform that is responsive, easy to manage and update and looks awesome. WordPress is a great choice in 2017 as a very popular platform that ticks all the right boxes. In this article I am going to share some details on 3 Top WordPress Themes for 2017.

WordPress is a content management system for your website which is highly organised and very reliable. It’s currently the best CMS available due it’s ease of use for non-technical people and professionals alike. Many web hosting companies offer packages with WordPress installed for you (nice of them!). I have always used Siteground who are awesome, there are many others to choose from. You want to ensure your host provides fast web hosting and preferably SSL.

Once you’ve arranged your hosting you can start to decide on how your website is going to look, for this you need a WordPress theme. You could use one of the free built in themes, however this isn’t going to be the best option. You really need a Premium WordPress Theme which is regularly updated, has good customer support and a fully responsive web design on mobiles and tablet.

A good WordPress theme will give you lots of options of how to display your web pages, images and updates. Your customer’s will be treated to a visual feast, hopefully…

Let’s take a look at my 3 Top WordPress Themes for 2017.

3 Top WordPress Themes for 2017

Divi

Divi is arguably the most flexible and adaptive WordPress theme available. It’s usually my first choice when discussing web design themes with my clients. The Divi Builder gives you the option to customise any aspect of the design including responsiveness across mobile and tablet.

Unlike many other Premium WordPress Themes it doesn’t come packaged with loads of demo sites, however it does have around 20 web page templates which can be accessed from the Divi Builder. This is handy if you don’t want to spend ages setting out your display manually. Personally I prefer to do this myself as you have more control over the design, along with giving your website a more original look.

Divi is currently one of the most popular WordPress themes and for a good reason. It’s easy to install and use, looks great with the right design and works flawlessly. Here’s a website I recently designed using Divi – www.sweepology.com

Impreza

Impreza is another fantastic and popular WordPress theme. Impreza comes with the option of installing 7 different styles of demo content. This can be a useful for quickly setting up your website. There are loads of styling options and it’s fully responsive on mobile and tablet.

It includes Visual Composer, a drag and drop visual editor you can use to create your web pages and posts. Slider Revolution is also included if you wish to use animated sliders on your pages. There are lots of included plugins which you can use to improve elements of your website and pages.

Overall Impreza is a great theme for business and personal use and comes highly recommended.

Genesis Framework - Rob Cherry Web Design

Genesis Framework

Genesis can be a bit confusing after you’ve installed it as it doesn’t work exactly like other WordPress themes. Once you’ve installed the Genesis Framework you have install a Genesis Child Theme and this applies the styling and look of your website.

There are many Child Themes you can choose from and some of the newer ones are fantastic. One of the main benefits of using Genesis is that it doesn’t contain lots of bloated coding and plugins. It’s beautifully designed and optimised to run fast and work flawlessly. I have a soft spot for Genesis and it’s simplicity having used it previously for website designs (including my own..).

Some of my favourite Child Themes: Altitude Pro, Atmosphere Pro, Parallax Pro and Ansel by Imagely. You can also of course create your own design to suit your needs.

Genesis is a great options for a simple no fuss website design.
